The USA Appoint New Military Attaché to the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, May 24, 2016 — Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru met with the new military attaché of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova, LTC Jeff Muir.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency, Ambassador of the USA, James D. Pettit, and former US military attaché, Joseph Bilbo.

Anatol Salaru reiterated that the USA are one of most important strategic partners of the Republic of Moldova. The Minister thanked the American Government for the bilateral cooperation between the two armies and for the American support in the reformation and modernization of the National Army.

Anatol Salaru highlighted that, due to the efforts made by the military attaches, the reformation progress is obvious and expressed his hope the military cooperation will continue.

LTC Jeff Muir said that he will continue to support Moldova and will do his best to strengthen the Moldovan-American partnership.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Defense reiterated his appreciation for LTC Joseph Bilbo, who contributed significantly to the National Army modernization.

On May 19, 2016, Joseph Carlton Bilbo was awarded the “Civic Merit” Medal by President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti.
