In Chisinau, Deputy Defense Ministers Gheorghe Galbura and Alexandru Cimbriciuc, together with 50 students from the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” and 11 service members of “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade, voluntarily donated blood at Palatul National “Nicolae Sulac”, while other 20 soldiers from 142 Military compound — at NCBT. Other 230 service members donated blood in Ungheni, Cahul, and Balti.

Deputy Defense Minister Galbura stated that the National Army joins every blood donation campaign organized on World Blood Donor Day. In December, 2015, the Ministry of Defense launched its own campaign, together with NCBT, during which 575 National Army soldiers donated blood for the victims of fire at “Colectiv” club from Bucharest, Romania.

Today, the Ministry of Defense was awarded a grade II Government diploma for the promotion of voluntary and consistent blood donation, saving lives, and fortification of the health system.

In 2005, the World Health Organization decided to dedicate a special day to blood donors. Thus, June 14 was declared World Blood Donor Day.
