Anatol Salaru Meets with Lazar Comanescu



CHISINAU, September 30, 2016 — Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Lazar Comanescu, while on an official visit to Bucharest.

The talks regarded the internal situation of the Republic of Moldova, security and defense priorities, and the prospective to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

Anatol Salaru informed Lazar Comanescu about the current cooperation stage of the Ministry of Defense with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which is developed through projects aiming to modernize Moldova’s defense and security, as well as other areas of strategic importance for the Republic of Moldova.

The Minister of Defense thanked the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs for the support offered to our country within the reinforcement of the partnership with NATO and EU.

Lazar Comanescu stated that Romania welcomes the progress registered in the reformation process which allows the European and international partners to regain their trust in the Republic of Moldova and highlighted the importance of maintaining this course. The Romanian official also underlined how important it is for Moldova to seize the opportunities offered by the cooperation with NATO.

Anatol Salaru and Lazar Comanescu agreed on strengthening the cooperation between Romania and Moldova in various areas of mutual interest.

Also today, the Moldovan Defense Minister met with the President of the Committee for defense, public order, and national security of the Romanian Senate, Marius-Lucian Obreja.
