National Army Engineers’ Interventions in September


CHISINAU, October 10, 2016 — The teams of National Army engineers disposed of 82 explosive objects in September. The service members were called in villages from Stefan-Voda, Anenii Noi, and Causeni districts.

According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, Head of Engineer Service of the Land Forces Command, in this period, the clearance groups neutralized and destroyed 74 artillery projectiles of various calibers, six bomb-launcher bombs, an air bomb, and a hand grenade.

The largest amount of ammunition — 69 artillery projectiles of 100 mm caliber — was found in the forest of Hirbovat village, Anenii Noi district, and disposed of by the EOD team of the Engineer Battalion, commanded by Cpt. Valentin Stati.

All the explosive objects dated back to World War II and were transported to the National Army Military Base, to be destroyed under maximum security conditions.

LTC Chilivnic specified that the National Army engineers disposed of 573 explosive objects in January-September, 2016, in various districts of the country.
