Moldovan-Romanian Exchange of Experience on Military Topography

CHISINAU, October 11, 2016 — A group of National Army service members is visiting the Military Topographic Directorate “General de Divizie Constantin Barozzi” from Bucharest, within October 10-12, 2016.

According to Commander of the Military Topographic Center, LTC Eugeniu Marit, the visit aims to strengthen the bilateral topogeodesic relationship between the Romanian and Moldovan military units, in compliance with modern standards of mapping.

The source specified that the representatives of the National Army Topogeodesic Service and of the Military Topographic Directorate “General de Divizie Constantin Barozzi” are negotiating the exchange of vector data of the areas situated near the countries’ borders in order to create new maps that are to be used in defense, as well as during natural disasters or other emergency situations.

While in Bucharest, the Moldovan service members will visit the photogrammetric production workshops, the military astronomical observatory, and the printing departments. The experts will also discuss about the possibility to restart training the topogeodesy specialists abroad.
