The Armed Forces Conscription Discussed at the Recruitment Center from Chisinau

CHISINAU, October 12, 2016 — The conscription of young men from Chisinau in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova was discussed today at a meeting held at the Recruitment Center from Chisinau.

According to Commander of the RC, Col. Alexandru Nica, in spring-summer 2016, the conscription requirement for Chisinau was entirely fulfilled.

However, Col. Nica specified that there is a series of gaps in this sector that need to be removed in order to increase the quality of the recruitment-enlistment process of future soldiers in the Armed Forces.

The source mentioned that one of the main problems is that young men usually beat the draft. This issue is caused by the lack of a staff member fully responsible for recruitment within the mayoralty, as well as by the fact that recruits join pacifist associations.

Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura stated, during the event, that it is mandatory for local public authorities to have qualified staff responsible for the conscription of young men in the Armed Forces.

Deputy Minister Galbura asked the representatives of mayoralties who were attending the meeting to show maximum responsibility and undertake concrete actions in order to improve the process of recruiting young men to the army.

The next conscription to the mandatory military service will start in November, 2016.
