Food Quality in Military Units Checked by National Army Inspectors (video)

CHISINAU, November 25, 2016 — On November 25, the Ministry of Defense started an internal investigation regarding the quality and expiry date of food purchased for conscripts in all the National Army units and institutions.

The action is conducted by the General Inspection Directorate (GID), Preventive Medicine Center, and Logistics Directorate, at the request of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, after the anti-corruption investigators detected several rigged tenders at various institutions and delivery of expired food products by some traders.

The National Army inspectors are checking the food quality, expiry date, and storage conditions in the food warehouses, as well as how the food is cooked in the military canteens.

Food safety for the National Army conscripts and service members is a priority of the Ministry of Defense’s leadership. The departments responsible for food safety regularly conduct controls in order to reach this objective.
