Soldiers Take Military Oath (video)

CHISINAU, December 22, 2016 — About 650 soldiers, who were enlisted in the National Army in November, 2016, took their military oath today, within ceremonies held in the units of Chisinau and Cahul garrisons.

In “Dacia” Brigade from Cahul, 230 young men took their military oath during a ceremony attended by Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru, parents, and relatives.

Minister Salaru congratulated the young soldiers and mentioned that the military service is a school of commitment, courage, and comradeship. “By taking the military oath, the young soldiers take a new and important responsibility in their life — to defend their country. The army is a school of life. In the army, you will learn what friendship, solidarity, courage, and discipline are. The army will make you ready for your future life”, said Anatol Salaru.

During the ceremony, a group of unit’s service members presented square bashing and wrestling exercises. The soldier’s relatives and other guests had the opportunity to familiarize with the Brigade’s weapons and vehicles.

Also today, in Chisinau garrison, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, and other representatives of the National Army Commanding Officer Corps attended similar events. Thus, over 400 young men took their military oath in “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade, Anti-Air Missile Regiment, and Guard Battalion.

After taking the military oath, the soldiers get a four-day leave. Then, they will be sent to National Army units.

The mandatory military service in the National Army lasts 12 months.
