Czech MPs Visit Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, April 5, 2017 — A delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of Czech Republic visited today the Ministry of Defense in order to familiarize themselves with the National Army activities and missions and the opportunities for the Moldovan-Czech defense cooperation.
The officials discussed the regional situation, the bilateral military cooperation, and possibilities of its reinforcement.
Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura thanked the Czech MPs for the interest in our country’s defense system and for the support offered to National Army service members through trainings in Czech military institutions. So far, about 70 Moldovan officers and NCOs were trained in Czech Republic. The official also appreciated the Czech Government’s contribution to the environment security and enhancement of living conditions for Moldovan citizens, by participating as a contributor in the NATO/PfP Trust Fund Project on the disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova.
Deputy Minister Galbura stated that the Ministry of Defense is ready to identify other opportunities for cooperation with Czech partners.
František Bublan, Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, mentioned the availability of Czech Republic to consolidate the cooperation with Republic of Moldova in sectors of mutual interest.
