Military Students Win the Defense Minister’s Cup

CHISINAU, May 31, 2017 — The students of Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” won the Defense Minister’s Cup at the military skills competition, event organized by the National Army within May 29-31, 2017. The service members from “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade won the second place, while the team of “Dacia” Brigade won the third place.

Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura congratulated the winners and mentioned that the physical training is a prospective subject in the National Army. Gheorghe Galbura encouraged the participants to work hard in order to obtain good results at national and international competitions.

According to Head of Doctrine and Joint Training Directorate, Col. Octavian Varzari, the competition brought together 120 soldiers from 11 National Army units, who competed in: triathlon, pentathlon, hand-grenade throwing, pistol shooting, weight lifting, and 3,000 meters and 10,000 meters distance running.

The Defense Minister’s Cup is held yearly and aims to improve the skills and sports performance of National Army service members.
