Moldovan Officer Decorated with Italian Army’s Medal

CHISINAU, July 20, 2017 — Commander of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Maj. Ianac Deli, was decorated by the Ministry of Defense of the Italian Republic with the Commemorative Cross “Per la Pace” (For Peace).

The distinction was offered for the excellent performance of the officer as commander of the third National Army contingent in the KFOR operation, within June-December, 2015. The mandate of the 41 Moldovan officers and NCOs stationed at the multinational base Camp Villaggio Italia from Pech village, Kosovo, included missions of security and guard of military facilities, as well as patrol and EOD missions.

Maj. Deli is the first service member of the National Army decorated with a medal of the Italian Army.
