Moldovan Peacekeeper from KFOR – 2nd Place in Dancon March



CHISINAU, October 20, 2017 — The National Army service members from KFOR mission participated recently in DANCON March (Danish Contingency), organized by the service members from Denmark.

According to contingent’s Commander, LTC Andrei Taranu, the Moldovan officers and NCOs, together with their colleagues from other 33 contingents deployed to KFOR, marched 25 km in Novo Selo, Kosovo, carrying backpacks of 10 and 24 kg.

The source specified that one of the peacekeepers — sergeant major Daniel Ciornea — won the second place. The service member marched 27 km in 2 hours and 53 minutes, carrying a 10 kg backpack. Another Moldovan service member — sergeant major Cristian Miron — marched the same distance in 3 hours and 28 minutes, thus winning the 8th place.

According to the rules, the participants pay a fee of 20 Euros. The collected money is donated to local institutions.

ANCON March is a tradition of the Danish Army dating back to 1972. So far, the march was organized in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, as well as other countries where Danish troops are deployed.

The National Army peacekeepers deployed to KFOR mission have been participating in DANCON March since 2014.
