Italy Appoints New Military Attaché for the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, October 30, 2017 — State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Aurel Fondos, met today with Ambassador of Italy in the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, who presented the new Italian military attaché to our country, Col. Andrea Tiveron.

The subjects discussed regarded the military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Italy, the regional situation, the defense strategic documents and other issues of mutual interest.

The State Secretary appreciated the Italian logistics support for National Army contingents deployed to KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo. Aurel Fondos thanked also for the educational and training opportunities offered to National Army service members and public servants in specialized institutions in Italy, as well as for the contribution in implementing the NATO/PfP Project on pesticide disposal in the Republic of Moldova.

Aurel Fondos congratulated Col. Andrea Tiveron and expressed the conviction that his appointment will strengthen the military cooperation between the National Army and the Italian Army.

Col. Andrea Tiveron mentioned that he will make every effort in implementing new projects that will benefit both armies and will support any cooperation initiative between the two defense institutions.
