Minister of Defense Has a Phone Conversation with his Romanian Counterpart


CHISINAU, November 2, 2017 — The Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza had a phone conversation today with his Romanian counterpart, Mihai Fifor.

Minister Fifor congratulated Eugen Sturza on his appointment and wished him success in his mandate and the initiatives he will realize within the Ministry of Defense and the National Army.

The officials discussed about the current stage of the Moldovan-Romanian defense cooperation and exchanged opinions on the political and regional situation in the Republic of Moldova, the strategic documents in the defense sector, with a focus on the National Defense Strategy that was approved by the Government of our country on Wednesday, November 1.

Eugen Struza said that he will make every effort in order to improve the situation in the National Army, thus he will direct his actions towards the institution’s reform and modernization through reinforcement of cooperation with international partners and adjustment of the institution to occidental standards. Minister Sturza thanked the Romanian official for the participation of Romanian officers and NCOs in the international exercise “JCET-2017” that is currently conducted at the National Army Military training base.

The Defense Ministers agreed on intensifying the Moldovan-Romanian dialogue in all the areas of mutual interest, including the joint participation of Moldovan and Romanian service members in international exercises, as well as the implementation of new projects beneficial for the two defense institutions.
