Moldovan-Romanian Meeting at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, November 9, 2017 — The bilateral defense cooperation and opportunities of developing the Moldovan-Romanian military dialogue, as well as within international organizations were the main issues discussed at the meeting of Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza and Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ionita.

Eugen Sturza informed Ambassador Ionita about his priorities as Minister of Defense that will be focused on the development and approval of strategic documents, modernization and professionalization of the army, endowment with vehicles and weapons, employment of new staff and its training, as well as improvement of social conditions for service members.

Minister Sturza thanked for the important support offered by Romania to the National Army through military education and training in specialized Romanian institutions, as well as during bilateral and multinational exercises.

Eugen Sturza also appreciated the engagement of the Romanian Government in implementing the NATO Project on disposal of pesticides that is beneficial for all the Moldovan citizens.

Daniel Ionita congratulated Eugen Sturza on his appointment and wished him success in achieving his strategic objectives.

Ambassador Ionita mentioned that Romania will continue to support the defense institution through new projects and programs aiming to modernize the National Army.
