Eugen Sturza Meets with Mothers and Widows of Soldiers Who Died in Dniester War

CHISINAU, February 28, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza met with the mothers and widows of the service members who died in the war for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova in 1992. This event is part of a series of actions organized by the Ministry of Defense in the framework of the Remembrance Day that is marked every year on March 2.

Eugen Sturza offered flowers and financial aid to the ladies who came to the meeting and mentioned that those who died in battle are an example of courage for the entire National Army staff.

“The 13 service members who defended our Motherland at the cost of their lives, as it is mentioned in the military oath, proved that the patriotism is not measured in words but rather in acts of sacrifice”, said Minister Sturza.

Eugen Sturza assured the mothers and widows of the heroes who died in battle of the support of the Ministry of Defense and National Army. “We will support you and I encourage you, in case of need, to come to me personally and to my colleagues with confidence — we will try to solve the problems you are facing. You have all our admiration for how you manage, day by day, to overcome the life’s challenges”, mentioned the Minister of Defense.

In the Dniester War, 13 National Army privates, sergeants and officers lost their lives.
