The Republic of Moldova and Lithuania Sign a New Defense Cooperation Plan
CHISINAU, March 6, 2018 — The Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania for 2018 was signed today by LTC Tatiana Ionel, chief of International Cooperation Directorate, and Karolis Aleksa, head of International Relations and Operations Department.
The document includes joint actions in sectors that are important for the two military institutions, such as: training, finance, and logistics.
Also today, the Lithuanian delegation met with State Secretary for defense policy and international cooperation, Dumitru Minzarari. The officials talked about the priorities of the cooperation agenda of the two armies for 2018, the achievements in implementing the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DBCI), as well as the identification of tools and mechanisms through which Lithuania could contribute to this initiative.
The Moldovan-Lithuanian defense cooperation was established in November, 2000.
