Minister of Defense Inspects Balti Garrison
CHISINAU, March 30, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza paid a working visit to Balti garrison where he visited three National Army subdivisions and attended the summarizing session of the General Staff held in “Moldova” Brigade.
During the General Staff’s session for the first trimester that was attended by military units’ commanders and the army’s commanding corps, Eugen Sturza mentioned that, presently, the reformation of the defense institution with a focus on army’s professionalization is the priority of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
“We wish to increase the defense capacity of the Republic of Moldova and we can reach this objective with professional military, officers, NCOs, sergeants, and privates who are well-trained, equipped, and interoperable with the military of other countries. That is why we have the obligation to get involved — each of us in his or her area of responsibility — in order to achieve this goal. It will benefit the army and will benefit our country”, said Eugen Sturza.
The Minister of Defense also visited the branch of the Central Military Hospital from Balti city, where he talked with the medical staff and observed the hospitalization conditions and the institution’s medical equipment.
Eugen Sturza also inspected the National Army’s Base for fuel storage and the branch of the central food depot.
At the end of the visit, the Minister of Defense gave instructions to the subdivision’s commanders to undertake measures necessary to solve the identified problems.
This year, inspections were conducted in the National Army’s Maintenance Base and the 1st Battalion of the Anti-air Missile Regiment stationed in Bacioi, the 6th Anti-air Battalion from Danceni, and the 4th Anti-air Battalion of the Anti-air Missile Regiment from Causeni.
