The Joint Moldovan-Romanian Committee Meets in Bucharest



CHISINAU, April 25, 2018 — A delegation of the Ministry of Defense is attending the fourth reunion of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee, held in Bucharest, Romania, within April 25-26, 2018.

According to State Secretary for defense policy and international cooperation, Dumitru Minzarari, who is also the co-president of the Committee on behalf of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, the reunion’s agenda is very complex. It includes subjects related to the military cooperation between the two defense institutions, the assistance offered to the Republic of Moldova by the North Atlantic Alliance, the current stage of implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), as well as the relationship Republic of Moldova — European Union in the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).

The Committee members will also analyze new possibilities for supporting the defense sector reform that is being currently implemented and will sign a Bilateral Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of National Defense of Romania for 2018.

The first meeting of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee was held in Chisinau, on September 21, 2015.
