NATO Experts at Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, April 26, 2018 — A group of NATO experts is paying a visit to the Ministry of Defense within April According to chief of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate, Col. Alexandru Harea, the objective is to offer support for our country in developing and implementing the provisions of the defense planning documents’ drafts regarding the development of the national defense system and the long-term building of Armed Forces, as well as the assessment of tasks deriving from the finalization of stage I of DCBI focused on the National Army’s reformation and modernization. Col. Harea specified that the DCBI experts will attend working sessions with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and National Army General Staff and will pay fact-finding visits to the National Army Military training base and “Dacia” Brigade from Cahul. The activity is part of the actions aimed to reinforce the cooperation with strategic development partners and to exchange experience in order to enhance the National Army’s defense capacity. In June, 2015, the Republic of Moldova was accepted by the North Atlantic Alliance as part of the DCBI, while the Ministry of Defense was assigned the responsibility for its implementation. The DCBI’s objective is the defense capacity building of the Republic of Moldova and includes an assistance package divided into two stages. During the first stage, the Ministry of Defense worked together with international experts appointed by the Alliance who provided support and counseling for the development of policy documents.
