Demining Missions in April

CHISINAU, May 3, 2018 — In April, the National Army engineers disposed of 57 explosive objects throughout the country.

According to Commander of Engineer Battalion “Codru”, LTC Gheorghe Racu, in this period, the service members carried out 17 demining missions destroying artillery projectiles, hand grenades, and mortar mines.

The source mentioned that the largest quantity of ammunition was discovered in Hirbovat village, Anenii Noi district. Here, the military engineers identified 11 artillery projectiles of 152 mm caliber. The explosive objects dating back to World War II have been destroyed at the Training area from Bulboaca.

Also in April, the engineers of “Moldova” Brigade were called in to Glodeni, where they discovered a hand grenade F-1 that was neutralized under maximum security conditions.

This year, the National Army engineers disposed of about 80 explosive objects.
