Information Campaign Against Corruption Conducted in All National Army Garrisons

CHISINAU, May 17, 2018 — The General Inspection Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), is conducting an information campaign among the National Army staff regarding the corruption phenomenon and the consequences of being involved in corruption actions. The campaign is conducted in all the military garrisons within May 14-31, 2018.

According to chief of General Inspection Directorate, Col. Victor Pirtina, the campaign includes a series of sessions aiming to inform and consolidate the National Army staff’s knowledge concerning the assessment of professional integrity, conflicts of interest, whistleblowers’ protection, the legal framework of gifts, liability for corruption acts, connected acts and corrupt behavior.

The source specified that the sessions are attended by military and civilian staff from all the National Army units and institutions of the Ministry of Defense.

The information campaign is part of the Action Plan regarding the implementation of the National Integrity and Anti-corruption Strategy for 2017-2020, as well as the Action Plan on reducing the risk of corruption within the Ministry of Defense for 2018-2019.
