National Army Conducts Artillery Exercise



CHISINAU, May 31, 2018 — National Army service members are participating in a tactical artillery exercise conducted at the Training centers of all the National Army garrisons within May 29-30, 2018.

According to Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier General Igor Cutie, the exercise’s objective is to assess the artillery subunits’ combat capacities.

The source specified that, during the exercise, about 500 conscripts and service members carried out day and night-time shooting drills using artillery systems: MT-12, 2S9 Nona, D-20 mortars, 120 mm bomb-launchers, and anti-tank guided missiles of the National Army.

On May 30, Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza attended the training conducted at “Moldova” Brigade from Balti, visited the training areas and discussed with the military engaged in the exercise.

Eugen Stuza highlighted the importance of such exercises for enhancing the National Army combat capacities and for training the staff in compliance with modern standards.

The artillery exercise was carried out in compliance with the National Army Combat readiness plan for 2018.
