The Students of the Technical University of Moldova Take Military Oath

CHISINAU, May 31, 2018 — Today, the graduates of the military training department of the Technical University of Moldova took the military oath in the Dendrologic Park of Riscani district. The event was attended by Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza, academic staff of the educational institution, students’ parents and relatives.

Eugen Sturza congratulated the young people who have chosen to study the military discipline and mentioned that the high number of graduates — a total of 370 — proves that the defense sector is one of the future’s most important fields and includes young people belonging to the academic environment who wish to truly understand the security challenges.

The Minister of Defense thanked the military teaching staff which consists of officers who had had important positions in the national military sector. “I am certain that these officers who have made history in the defense sector shared with you the passion and respect for this field that is so difficult, but at the same time fascinating, by means of theoretical and practical lessons in military units and training areas. On my behalf and on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, I wish to thank them for the efforts they made in order to teach the young generation the patriotic values and to promote the army’s image among society”, said Eugen Sturza.

Minister Sturza invited the students to join the army and to serve as contract-based service members.

“This year, we wish to start the project of National Army’s professionalization and to man the defense institution with professional military. Thus, I invite you to join our family, the military family, where the camaraderie, discipline and, most importantly, responsibility are mandatory conditions. Only together we can fulfill our most important missions — to defend our Motherland and to maintain the people’s trust in the army, a trust shown in all those almost 27 years of the National Army’s existence”, underlined Eugen Sturza.

According to head of the military training department of the Technical University of Moldova, Brigadier General Vitalie Stoian, 370 graduates took the military oath today. During the four months of training, they have studied the military discipline and carried out shooting drills using infantry weapons at the National Army training centers.

The source specified that, after graduation, the students receive the rank of reserve junior sergeant.

The military training department of the Technical University of Moldova was established in 2003 and trained over 20,000 young people.
