KFOR-9 Starts Its Missions in Kosovo
CHISINAU, June 25, 2018 — The ninth National Army contingent deployed in KFOR operation has started its training in Kosovo. According to contingent’s commander, LTC Veaceslav Balan, the Moldovan officers and NCOs, together with the Italian military, are trained by their colleagues from Hungary on fire phobia and crowd control. The source specified that, at the same time, the engineers conducted sessions on the danger of unexploded ammunition in Kosovo region and the actions to be taken when finding them. The sessions were attended by soldiers from Slovenia and Italy. LTC Balan added that, during their mandate, the National Army service members will carry out operations of patrol, guard and defense of strategic importance facilities and missions of security at “Camp Villaggio Italia” base, including the Decane Monastery, as well as missions of EOD search and identification of explosive objects. The KFOR-9 contingent consists of 41 service members out of whom one staff officer, seven engineers and a platoon of infantrymen who were deployed to Kosovo on June 9, 2018. Their mandate in Kosovo will last six months. |
