National Army prepares officers for Security Zone



CHISINAU, March 31, 2011 - The National Army organizes during March 29 – May 6 a training course for officers to work in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova. 

According to Capt. Denis Furdui, interim chief of the Peace Support Operation Training Center, 25 National Army officers and 5 officers of the Ministry of Interior were trained during this period of time. The course consists of three modules – theoretical training, specialized training and practical exercise that will be held at Bulboaca Facility. 

The competition for the course was strict, for applicants had to fulfill all the necessary requirements to be able to work in the security zone in such posts as: military observer, staff officer within the Joint Peacekeeping Force Command. 

Capt. Furdui stated the course cover issues on the current situation in the security zone, structure, tasks and peculiarities of military service within Peacekeeping Forces Command, role and basic tasks of Republic of Moldova servicemen in the security zone, civil-military affairs, psychological training and others. 

Except military trainers that had previously worked as military observers in the security zone and within UN-led peacekeeping operations, the participants will meet with representatives of the Moldova’s Bureau for Reintegration, OSCE Mission, Maj. Gen. Ion Costas and Oazu Natoi. Beginning 2003, 123 National Army officers were trained within the above course prepared by the Peace Support Operation Training Center and assisted by representatives of the Joint Peacekeeping Force Command in the Security Zone.
