Students of “Alexandru cel Bun” Academy Take Military Oath

CHISINAU, August 24, 2018 — The freshmen of Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” took today the military oath during a ceremony held at the institution’s HQ. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff, young peoples’ parents and relatives.

Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza congratulated the students and mentioned that this is a brave choice. “You did not choose an easy profession but one full of challenges. You are a value for the National Army because the defense institution’s activity depends on you and the preservation of military traditions within the National Army depends on you as well. We want to have a new army that is professional, modern, and able to fulfill its mission. And you — today’s students and tomorrow’s military — are among those who contribute to the achievement of this objective”, said Eugen Sturza.

According to deputy rector of Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”, Col. Gheorghe Turcanu, for the academic year 2018-2019, the educational institution accepted 50 students, out of which 9 girls, who will study infantry, artillery, communications and IT.

The source added that, within July 23-August 24, the students attended a military integration course studying general tactics, shooting techniques, military regulations, square bashing, engineer training, and military-medical training. At the end of the course, the freshmen carried out shooting drills at the National Army Military training base from Bulboaca.

During the three years of studying at the MAAF, the training, accommodation, equipment, and food are free for the military students.

Upon graduation, the students will receive the rank of “lieutenant”, the driving license cat. B, as well as a job in the National Army.
