National Army Marks Today the 27th Anniversary



 

CHISINAU, September 3, 2018 — The National Army’s Day has been celebrated today in all the military garrisons.

In Chisinau, the Commanding Officer Corps of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the units stationed in the capital and the military attaches appointed to our country laid flowers at “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” monument, “Maica Indurerata” monument from “Eternitate” Memorial, the Central Cemetery and “Sfantul Lazar” Cemetery.

Also today, a group of officers and NCOs were decorated with Government diplomas, National Army medals and received military ranks for service performances.

Festive activities were also conducted in Balti, Cahul, and Ungheni garrisons.

On Sunday, September 2, on the occasion of National Army’s Day, the Ministry of Defense organized an Open Doors Day for the first time. During the event, the National Army subunits presented to the public various activities including competitions, exhibitions of photography, philately, equipment, military weaponry and vehicles, weapon handling and wrestling exercises, martial arts techniques, and a military uniforms parade. The activity also included a concert with the participation of the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, folk bands “Cavalerii Armoniei”, “Haiducii de la Mereni” and “Haiducii de la Costesti”, and singers Vali Boghean, Cristina Scarlat, Ion Rata, and Marin Ganciu.

The National Army was founded on September 3, 1991, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova No. 194.
