State Secretary of Ministry of Defense at the Conference "Women, Peace and Security"CHISINAU, September 21, 2018 — State Secretary Vladimir Iliev attended the High Level Conference on “Women, Peace and Security” held in Baku, Azerbaijan during September During the event organized by NATO Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, there were addressed subjects related to the regional implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and NATO Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council’s Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. The best models and practices to promote and integrate gender perspectives, options to enhance operational effectiveness by increasing the participation of women in international missions and operations, to prevent and combat sexual violence, gender violence and sexual harassment within armed conflicts were the most important topics discussed at the conference. The conference was attended by NATO Deputy Secretary General, Rose Gottemoeller, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, Clare Hutchinson, representatives of the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, UN Women in Azerbaijan, Ministries of Defense of different states, representatives of the academic environment and civil society from Azerbaijan and other countries.
