Conscription State Committee Convenes at Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, December 18, 2018 — Deputy Chief of National Army General Staff, Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, presided over the meeting of the Conscription State Committee that was held at the Ministry of Defense, on October 18.

The activity was attended by representatives of central public authorities, presidents of regional recruitment-conscription committees, commanders of military centers, chiefs of military-administrative departments from all the National Army garrisons.

The talks were related to the enlistment process in the National Army during April-July, 2018, the issues of the recruitment process and training of young men for service, as well as the need to amend the field’s legal framework.

At the end of the meeting, the Committee made a series of decisions aimed to make more efficient the enlistment process in the National Army. Thus, the members of the Conscription State Committee, presidents of regional recruitment-conscription committees, commanders of military centers, and chiefs of military-administrative departments are to undertake concrete actions in order to improve the conditions of selection and enlistment of young men who are to become conscripts. There was also decided that the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Social Protection will ensure the completion of military-medical commissions with necessary specialists in order to examine the recruits more efficiently.

The Conscription State Committee was established in 2010 under the aegis of the government and has the objective to coordinate the activity of recruitment and enlistment committees, to control the enlistment of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the military service, and to examine the complaints of the citizens.
