Junior Leaders of the National Army, trained by British experts



CHISINAU, November 7, 2019 - The graduation ceremony of the third edition of the course for lower commanders, organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, took place today at the Military Academy of Armed Forces (AFMA) "Alexandru cel Bun".

During the activity, 20 group and platoon commanders from the motorized infantry brigades "Moldova" and "Dacia", the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and the National Army Training Center received graduation certificates from the State Secretary Aurel Fondos, the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, and the British military attaché, Squadron Commander Rob Hall.

Aurel Fondos congratulated the graduates, mentioning that the experience gained by the Moldovan military in the course will be useful in their subsequent activity as commanders of different levels.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Aurel Fondos, thanked the British instructors, who came to the Republic of Moldova for the third time, to transmit to the 20 soldiers present at the course theoretical knowledge and practical skills in organizing and planning the activity of subunit commander.

Aurel Fondos also expressed gratitude to the British Embassy and Government in the Republic of Moldova for their constant support for the reform of the defense institution, especially in the field of training and expertise in drafting strategic documents.

It should be noted that the training, organized by the Center for Continuing Development of AFMA, in cooperation with a mobile training center of the British Army, deployed in the Czech Republic, took place between October 14 and November 7, in the National Army.

The course for lower commanders is part of the Bilateral Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and that of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 2019 and took place for the third time in our country.
