Government Approves Military Parade Costs

CHISINAU, June 8, 2011 — Republic of Moldova Government will allocate over 9 million 400 thousand MDL for the military parade held August 27, Republic of Moldova Independence Day, on Marii Adunari Nationale Square. This decision was taken Wednesday, June 8, at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at the request of Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta.

The Minister of Defense pointed out there had been no financial means provided for the military parade in the 2011 budget. The structures in charge will use the money for different activities of preparation and organization for the event.

“These costs will cover the supply of participants in the military parade with equipment, supply of fuel, food products, preparation of the equipment and weapons for the event and purchase of drums and other parade supplies”, Minister of Defense stated as a person in charge of the alignment of servicemen taking part in the 20^th anniversary parade of Republic of Moldova Independence.

According to assessment data, the military parade will bring together 1528 people. Thus, the Ministry of Defense will contribute 1018 people (including 91 participants in the 1992 War), the Minister of the Interior — 389 people, and the Border Guard Service — 121 people.

At the same time, 86 cars and armored vehicles will take part in the military parade. The Ministry of Defense will contribute 66 vehicles, the Ministry of the Interior — 14, and the Border Guard — 6. Moreover, the military parade will also involve 600 artillery and weapon units, including 360 belonging to the Ministry of Defense, 160 — to the Ministry of the Interior and 80 units — to the Border Guard Service.

On the 20th anniversary of Republic of Moldova Independence Day held August 27, 2011, the military parade involving military units of the National Army, subdivisions of the Ministry of the Interior and the Border Guard Service, military equipment and vehicles, will be held on Marii Adunari Nationale Square from Chisinau.
