Computers for the Military and Extreme Medicine Department

CHISINAU, June 17, 2011 — Deputy Minister of Defense Igor Panfile attended the donation ceremony of computers for the Military and Extreme Medicine Department of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics.

During the meeting with the Rector of the University, Ion Ababii, and other decision-making factors of the institution, the parties focused on aspects related to the activity of the military department of the university. The Deputy Minister of Defense visited the classrooms and laboratories of the military and extreme medicine department, where he familiarized with the curriculum, the teaching supplies, conditions of studies, as well as the problems the university leadership faces everyday.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense Igor Panfile, “Over the past few years, the Ministry of Defense has successfully cooperated with the Military and Extreme Medicine Department. By organizing yearly teaching trainings and taking part in different conferences, the department improves and implements modern teaching methods of medical-military subjects”.

The Igor Panfile met with students of the Military Department. He asked them about the problems they have, opinions about the educational process. Panfile called students to join the military for the National Army needs well-trained military medical personnel.

According to Reserve Doctor, Col. Vasile Dumitras, Chief of Military and Extreme Medicine Department, the first thing we do is to teach all students, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, according to the program “Teaching basic medical military knowledge and problems of disaster medicine”. Students from abroad are taught sanitary management during disaster and toxicology, in compliance with the legislation in force. At the second stage, studies are carried out in compliance with the “Teaching Reserve Military Doctors” Program.

The Military Department was established in 1945 and worked until 1991. In 1992, the Military and Extreme Medicine Department was established within Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics.
