Minister of Defense Welcomes American Military Students to Moldova

CHISINAU, June 28, 2011 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met with a group of students of the United States military.

Ten cadets were deployed to Republic of Moldova during June 27 — July 16 by the United States Army Reserve Officer Corps Command.

During the meeting, Minister of Defense Marinuta stated “The visit of the American cadets to Republic of Moldova and mainly to Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy and military units of the National Army shall develop Moldovan American bilateral relations. You will have the possibility to share your experience with your fellows from the Republic of Moldova, make friends, for our students and servicemen are always open for cooperation”. Although the readiness level of our servicemen is not as high as the American military’s is, the interest and desire to learn military art and other defense-based subjects are the same, Marinuta pointed out.

Maj. Jeremiah Naylor, leader of the group of cadets, mentioned the familiarization of the American cadets with the working process of military units, the exchange of experience in the military area, the familiarization with the study and living conditions of Moldovan students and servicemen, is definitely of great use to our further experience.

During their stay in our country, the American cadets, along with the Military Academy students, shall implement a humanitarian project related to building and arranging a playground for children of servicemen from Dimitrie Cantemir Anti-air Missiles from Danceni and repairing the building of the Boarding School from Ialoveni.
