Defense Attaches Visit Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, November 22, 2011 — Brigadier Gen. Vitalie Stoian, Interim Chief of Main Staff, Commander of the National Army, met Tuesday, November 22, with a delegation of foreign defense officials at the Ministry of Defense HQ.

Commander Dick REEFMAN, defense attaché of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine and Republic of Moldova, Col. Håkan HEDSTRÖM, defense attaché of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine and Republic of Moldova and Col. Jeremy BURNELL, defense attaché of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Ukraine, came for an official visit in our country.

During the meeting, Gen. Stoian informed the three defense attaches about the current stage of the military reform process, National Security Strategy, as well as other major issues of the National Army.

The dialogues also focused on bilateral military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova military and the armies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kingdom of Sweden and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, referring to the support provided for the National Army development. Gen Stoian thanked the countries for the multilateral support which had considerably enhanced the development of the Moldovan defense institution.

The guests appreciated the reform process carried out in the Moldovan army. They stated their countries would keep supporting the National Army in term of modernization and reform.
