The mission of the General Inspection Directorate, as an independent institution of the Ministry of Defense, is to inspect, observe and control over the condition of the institutions of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff, troops and services of main units and military units of the National Army.

The General Inspection Directorate checks the activity of the institutions of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff, main units and military units of the National Army in order to assess the mobilization and task service condition, the quality of the military service and combat readiness by comparing the results achieved to the expected ones, measuring performances with the initial requirements, identifying discrepancies and taking all the necessary measures to remove them.

To better identify, analyze and assess threats and weak points for all levels of management within the military institution, the General Inspection Directorate installed a hotline service (022 23-28-06) which all the National Army servicemen and public servants, their family members, as well as other citizens, are welcome to contact if some useful information needs to be communicated. All the hotline calls are confidential.
