Service Members’ Combat Capabilities Checked by National Army Leadership

CHISINAU, January 16, 2019 — The combat capabilities of all National Army military units have been checked today by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff. The military garrisons’ personnel conducted specific actions using also their vehicles.

According to National Army Commander, Brig. Gen. Igor Cutie, the action had the objective to assess the units’ level of combat readiness.

Gen. Cutie added that the military training year has started with theoretical sessions and trainings in all the country’s garrisons thus setting the main objectives for the soldiers.

During this period, the defense institution’s priorities will focus on the implementation of the strategic documents and modernization programs, particularly on “Professional Army” and “Concept of professional development of the staff of National Army privates, sergeants, and NCOs”, as well as on increasing the participation in international exercises and stabilization and peacekeeping missions.

Minister of Defense, Eugen Sturza, appreciated the level of planning, organization, and development of the assessment of the service members’ readiness.

“In fact, you have started the testing the last week when you showed maximum mobilization, alongside your colleagues from other force structures, at the liquidation of the consequences of snowfalls in the central part of the country. On this occasion, I would like to convey the Government’s appreciation for the way you acted and to tell you how proud I am of your performance. It is good for our citizens to know that they can rely on the National Army in any situation,” said Minister Sturza.

The Minister of Defense asked the Commanding Officers Corps to make every effort in order to efficiently conduct the staff’s training process.

Today’s action is part of the National Army Training Plan for 2019.
