Experts Discuss Security Sector Reform



CHISINAU, December 13, 2011 — A “Security Sector Reform (SSR) Defense Operational Concepts Development” seminar is carried out by a group of experts from NATO Joint Force Command of Naples December 13 — 15 at the Ministry of Defense HQ.

The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Defense, National Army Main Staff and Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy of the Armed Forces, as well as experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Intelligence Service.

The head of Defense Policy and Planning Directorate, LTC Vladimir Ababii, stated the participants would cover issues related to the defense and security sector reform and the defense reform in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the quoted source, the NATO experts will make an overview of the Security Sector Reform concept, defense policy and defense planning process, as well as the SDR and its implementation.

The participants will also discuss about NATO and EU role in Defense and Security Sector Reform, with a focus on defense planning directives, civil emergency planning, and the European Union joint security defense policy.
