Conscripts To Celebrate Winter Holidays At Home


CHISINAU, December 26, 2011 — Nearly one third of National Army conscripts will celebrate the New Year at home, while other 30 percent will be on leave on Christmas.

According to Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, Chief of Personnel Directorate, in winter, all the units and institutions of the army will organize different activities, including contests for the best carol, sketch, holiday design of the barracks and military units and others.

Ohladciuc stated that, during winter holidays, conscripts will have the possibility to attend the divine service held in the churches next to the military units. The priests will hold lectures in for the young men about the Christian traditions and customs of the nation and the significance of Christmas holiday. “The holiday program includes some individual and group discussions about religious values. Moreover, young men will have the opportunity to receive the Holy Communion”, Col. Ohladciuc stated.

This year, nearly 2000 children of the military and civil staff of the National Army were offered sweets on winter holidays.
