National Army Soldiers Complete the Initial Military Training Course

CHISINAU, February 24, 2012 — 683 soldiers of the National Army received Friday, February 24, the graduation certificates of the initial military training courses during the special graduation ceremonies held in Moldova and Dacia Light Infantry Brigades from Balti and Cahul.

In Cahul, the certificates were awarded by the Interim Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Vitalie Stoian. Gen. Stoian congratulated the young soldiers for their performances in studies, specifying they are still expected to show commitment and arduousness in their further military service. “You have 11 months of military service ahead and you will definitely need high physical, psychic and intellectual capabilities. However, if you are hardworking and willing to fulfil your duties with much responsibility, you will certainly succeed. Your service will be full of obstacles and challenges, but if you work hard and are committed to what you do, you will definitely get good results in your defending-the-homeland job”, Gen. Stoian told the soldiers.

After the graduation ceremonies, the soldiers have got a three-day leave. Then, they will be distributed to the National Army units.

According to Col. Oleg Ciulcov, Chief of Doctrine and Joint Training Directorate of the National Army Main Staff, the young soldiers’ initial training course aims at teaching soldiers basic knowledge necessary to fulfil their missions. The six-week course is held four times a year. “Half of the course is taught in military units where soldiers study tactical training techniques, square-bashing, military regulations, physical training and other subjects. The second half of the course consists of trainings and drills at the two brigades, including a survival course”, Ciulcov said.

The initial training is a soldiers’ modern training programme held in special training centers. The programme started being applied in spring 2010 and it is meant to replace ineffective related old programs implemented in the army so far.
