National Army Servicemen Back from Germany

CHISINAU, February 27, 2012 — The National Army contingent that participated in the “Mission Rehearsal Exercise” is back to the Republic of Moldova.

At the welcome back ceremony, Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuta decorated the best servicemen of the contingent with the Medal for Excellent Service and the Eminent Military Man Insignia.

The Minister of Defense congratulated the military contingent on the successful and excellent fulfillment of duties pointing out the peacekeeping troops’ training will always be a National Army priority.

“I am proud of your great achievements as representatives of the Republic of Moldova in an international exercise and of acquiring new capabilities useful in your further international missions”, the Defense Minister stated. “I am sure the exercise from Germany increased our staff readiness, for our major goal focuses on the acknowledgment of peacekeeping units’ readiness for international missions”.

The leader of the military contingent, Col. Iurie Bruma, stated the “Mission Rehearsal Exercise” was an outstanding experience for the National Army servicemen. The organizers highly appreciated the professional level of the Moldovan contingent.

“The level of the battalion main staff officers, as well as the practical achievements of the troops, mainly during day and night operations was highly appreciated by the organizers. The National Army servicemen have successfully learned all the field car driving techniques, as well as the use of night vision cameras during the night and in low visibility conditions”, Iurie Bruma stated.

According to the quoted source, the military men were trained how to install checkpoints, establish missions for military subunits and cooperation within such missions. The National Army contingent was also taught how to use the e-monitoring system and different radio stations. The Moldovan servicemen also passed a few tests on medical military readiness, actions in case of car accidents and artillery fire call.

The National Army deployed 120 professional servicemen to the Hohenfels military training ground. The Moldovan servicemen work along with partner nations on patrol, convoy, transportation and support missions. The goal of the exercise was to evaluate the military readiness for the rotation of troops within international missions.

The “Mission Rehearsal Exercise” held during February 1-28 is conducted by the European Command of the US Marine Corps.
