Czech Officials at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, April 18, 2012 — Moldovan-Czech bilateral defense and security cooperation has been discussed today by Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta and the members of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Czech Parliament Chamber of Deputies, that came for an official visit to Chisinau.

The Minister of Defense appreciated the high level of bilateral defense cooperation with the Czech Republic and put the focus on the further development of the currently existing bilateral affairs. Vitalie Marinuta thanked the officials for the opportunities of professional development of National Army servicemen in Czech specialized institutions.

During the meeting, the Moldovan Minister of Defense informed the Czech MPs about the defense reform in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the reforms in the National Army. “The final goal of these changes rely on the establishment of a sound defense system meant to support the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova inside the country and the establishment of a security system both in the region and abroad in common with our partners”, Vitalie Marinuta stated.

David Vodrazka, chairperson of the Commission, member of the parliamentary friendship group for Relations with the States of South-Eastern Europe, stated his country would keep supporting a successful partnership with the Republic of Moldova.

“This meeting is a good evidence of the Ministry’s of defense leadership interest towards our bilateral cooperation. I think the level of cooperation may grow in different areas and we are ready to identify all the required mechanisms for a further dynamic cooperation between our countries”, Mr. Vodrazka stated. He thanked the Minister of Defense for the attention provided to the development of Moldovan-Czech Affairs.

At the end of the meeting, the official appreciated the opportunity to exchange opinions and pledged for the promotion of Republic of Moldova — Czech Republic cooperation, mainly focusing on the defense area as a key part of cooperation between states.
