National Army Main Staff Marks 20th Anniversary



CHISINAU, April 24, 2012 — The development of the national defense system mostly depends on the professionalism and competence of the National Army Main Staff. Hence, it is very important to promote high skilled and experience military personnel for this institution, Minister of Defense, Vitalie Marinuta, stated during the 20th anniversary ceremony of the National Army Main Staff.

Appreciating the activity of the Main Staff personnel, Vitalie Marinuta pointed out they are the ones “to keep implementing the National Security Strategy, developing the National Defense Strategy and reofming the national defense system”.

As a sign of high appreciation and gratitude towards the role and performances of the Main Staff in the organization and reform of the military institution, the Defense Minister awarded diplomas of merit and distinctions to the military and civil staff of this structure.

The 20th anniversary ceremony of the National Army Main Staff also included a marching of the Guard troops. The event brought together generals Ion Coropcean, Nicolae Petrica and Col. Vladimir Dontu, who ran the Main Staff through different time periods.

The National Army Main Staff is the troop military command and planning structure established April 24, 1992, based on Republic of Moldova Government Decision as of March 25, 1992.
