Forty-Four Explosive Devices Liquidated by the National Army Engineers in April


CHISINAU, May 5, 2012 — The National Army EOD engineers liquidated 44 explosive devices in April. Their help was required in Chisinau, as well as in Hincesti, Stefan Voda, Cantemir, Ungheni, Anenii Noi, Nisporeni, Singerei and Leova districts.

According to LTC Mihail Semionov, EOD Commander of the National Army, Chief of EOD Department, this month, the engineers the engineers carried out 42 missions of research, identification, liquidation and disposal of explosives.

The EOD teams of the Engineer Battalion, the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Dacia and Moldova Brigades, destroyed 21 artillery projectiles of 122, 100 and 76 mm caliber, 10 mines of different calibers and 13 grenades. All the above explosives dated back to Second World War and were discovered by the local citizens during some construction and land processing works.

The National Army has got six well-equipped mine disposal groups carrying out missions on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

LTC Semionov pointed out that, this year, the National Army engineers were engaged in 62 mine disposal missions and liquidated 260 explosive devices in different parts of the country.
