European Night of Museums in the National ArmyCHISINAU, May 24, 2012 — The Center of Military Culture and History celebrated Thursday, May 24, the 8th edition of the European Night of Museums. Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta, who attended the event, stated the musical program differed from the ones of the past few years. “This is something connected to our native land and our old traditions”, Minister Marinuta stated at the beginning of the ceremony. The guests of the Military Museum watched a musical program with soldiers wearing national clothing, alpenhorns, drummers and buglers, medieval fights, as well as marching with torches. They also visited the temporary exhibitions of white arms, flags, historic colors and military caps. At the end of the event, the audience tested some tradition meals and soldier’s porridge, prepared by the National Army soldiers. The European Night of Museums is a successful event initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Communication from France. This is the nightly continuation of the International Day of Museums marked May 18. The Military Museum postponed the celebration of the event because of the declaration of May 19 as a National Day of Mourning due to the death of the national opera famous singer Maria Biesu. |
