President Nicolae Timofti Awards Graduation Diplomas to Military Academy GraduatesCHISINAU, June 30, 2012 — President Nicolae Timofti, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, awarded graduation diplomas and the Eminent Serviceman Insignia to the best students who completed the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”. The graduation ceremony took place in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Chisinau. “An officer does both, executes his superiors’ orders and shows his professional skills by understanding the goals a military institution has to accomplish. Your generation must base military institutions on principles, reality and modern techniques in serving the country and its citizens. Your superiors appreciated the effort you made throughout these years and I am confident they did that with much responsibility, competence and honor”, Nicolae Timofti stated. Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta praised this year class of officers. “A new stage in the military service starts for them. We want them to be competent, assiduous, committed and professional”, Minister Marinuta said. Class 2012 of the Military Academy has 106 graduates. 50 of young lieutenants will join the National Army units, 32 — the Border Guard Service and 24 — the Carabineer Troops. According to the results achieved, the best students of this class are: Alexandru Tanasiev, Ion Demian, Mihail Pavlov, Anatol Matrosu and Laurentiu Moraru. During Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy of the Armed Forces is a member of the Partnership for Peace Consortium. The studies are being performed in the Military Science and Public Administration domains. The institution also has a Defense and Security Strategic Studies Center, a Continuous Professional Development Center and a Linguistic Center.
