National Army Servicemen Take Part in “Rapid Trident – 2012” Exercise



CHISINAU, July 16, 2012 — A contingent of National Army servicemen takes part in “Rapid Trident — 2012” multinational exercise held July 16-27, at Iavorov Training Site, Ukraine.

The leader of the Moldovan contingent, Maj. Vadim Moraru, stated the National Army had deployed about 90 servicemen of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and Fulger Special Forces Battalion. The military contingent consists of three infantry platoons and eight staff officers.

Moraru said the goal of “Rapid Trident” exercise is to enhance interoperability of PfP troops within peacekeeping operations. The Moldovan servicemen will engage in a wide variety of company and battalion-level trainings. The staff will also carry out missions typical of international peacekeeping operations, command and control practical assignments, convoy escort, as well as research and patrol operations.

“Rapid Trident” exercise will bring together about 1500 military men from 16 countries such as: Austria, Latvia, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Denmark, Ukraine, Belarus, Canada, Poland, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Great Britain, Norway and the USA.

“Rapid Trident” is a Partnership for Peace Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise which the National Army joined in 2007.
