National Army Organizes CETATEA 2012 Exercise

CHISINAU, October 2, 2012 — Over 500 National Army servicemen participate at CETATEA-2012 (The Citadel 2012) Exercise, held October 1-5 at Bulboaca Military Training Ground.

According to the interim commander of the Land Force Command, Col. Igor Gadirca, the goal of the exercise is to test and evaluate the effectiveness of command, cooperation and control procedures of the infantry and artillery units, as well as involve the servicemen in field training exercises as much as possible.

During the military exercise, the operational units are engaged in missions typical of class defense operations. The exercise will also test the readiness and involvement of artillery units in carrying out fire support missions.

The event involves a few training points for EOD training, field movement techniques, obstacle race movements, medical aid techniques and others.

The exercise “CETATEA 2012” brought together over 500 servicemen, artillery units and military technical equipment of the National Army. It’s the third year the event is organized by the National Army Land Force Command. The servicemen shoot artillery systems, combat vehicles and infantry weapons of the National Army.

To maintain confidence between both banks of the Dniester River, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova invited the representatives of the so-called Transnistrian military structures as observers to the event.
