Army Enrollment State Committee Members Meet at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, October 25, 2012 — “The Enhancement of cooperation between the central and local public authorities improves the selection of recruits for the Armed Forces”, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Moldovau stated during the meeting of the Army Enrollment State Committee held Thursday, October 25, at the Ministry of Defense.

The meeting brought together members of the State Enrollment Committee, heads of conscription commissions from different districts of the country, commanders of Military Centers and chiefs of administrative military departments.

The participants in the meeting conducted by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Moldovanu examined the results of conscription to the Armed Forces, the medical and military expertise activity, as well as cases when conscripts were discharged from the army immediately after conscription.

According to the Chief of Personnel Directorate, Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, during April-July 2012, 1150 young people joined the National Army and 630 — the Carabineer Troops. The source pointed out the conscription task has been 100% fulfilled. The highest enlistment level was recorded in Ialoveni, Cimislia, Singerei, Hincesti ad Balti.

As for the ethnic issue, 86,2 % of the total number of conscripts are Moldovan citizens, 5,2 % are Ukrainians, 3,4 % — Gagauz and Russians, and 1,8 % — represent other nationalities.

According to the data presented by the Head of the Personnel Division, the number of recruits with school diplomas has decreased in comparison with the last year, while the number of young men with college, high school and industrial school diplomas increased. 72,6 % of the young men enrolled to the Armed Forces come from villages and about 27% — from cities.

The Central Commission of Medical Military Expertise showed that most often, young men are discharged from service because of congenital malformations, digestive maladies and behavioral disorders.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Moldovanu asked the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health Care and the Medical Military Expertise Committee to be more serious in the recruits’ selection process and take all the required measures in term of bad medical examination of draftees, including by applying penalties.

According to the legislation in force, during October 2012 — January 2013, 1150 young men will be conscripted to the National Army and 625 — to the Carabineer Troops.
