TAEKWON-DO achievements



Chisinau, November 12th, 2012 — Representatives of the Central Army Sports Club won five gold medals, six silver and eight bronze medals in the sixth edition of Taekwon-Do Tournament, held at the State University of Physical Education and Sports on November 10th, this year.

According to Yuri Spataru, the Head of the Sports Club ALTAIR, the competition entitled “The sport for homeland defense” brought together 110 athletes from 13 clubs from the country who competed in sections between the ages of 6-13 years (cadets) and 14-17 years (junior). Sources said that taekwon-do personnel of the military club are trained by qualified coaches , and the athletes have trained for many years to achieve good results in the tournament. “We believe that young athletes from the army club we will represent our country with honor not only at home but also abroad, because this tournament has served as selection for participation in international championships scheduled for 2013,” noticed Spataru.

The military from the Special Forces Battalion also participated in this tournament with a presentation of close combat.

The sixth edition of Taekwon-Do Tournament was organized by the Ministry of Defense in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Moldova and aims at developing patriotic education and sports of the young generation in Moldova.
